Artemik's Jaime Oncins will make his Davis Cup captain debut on September 13th, 2019. The former ATP No. 34 will lead the Brazilian team composed of Thiago Monteiro, Joao Menezes, Thiago Seyboth Wild, and doubles pair Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares. Brazil is set to face Barbados on the clay of Criciuma in Americas Group I for a spot in the 2020 Qualifiers.
As a player, Oncins played Davis Cup for 11 years and was the only Brazilian competing for Brazil both times the country reached the semifinals, in 1992 and 2000. He also reached the quarterfinals of the 1992 Olympics, as well as the Roland-Garros 4th round that same year, beating Ivan Lendl in an epic five-setter.
Oncins now serves as the Head Coach at Orlando's Montverde Academy, giving competitive juniors the tools, knowledge and experience to develop as elite tennis players. Montverde Academy places many players to competitive American universities every year with tennis scholarships.
Oncins and the Montverde Academy showcase all the values that Artemik puts forward - hardwork, passion, and giving back to others are amongst them.
